Potty Seat and Potty Chair: Pros and Cons
Potty seats and potty chairs are tools for potty training your child. Potty training is a challenging thing for both the parent and the child especially if you are a first time mom or dad. There are pros and cons to these two different approaches of potty training
The potty seat
PROS: the potty seat does not make transition redundant. Since it only reduces the diameter of the bowl to fit in your child well, he will not have a hard time adjusting and readjusting from a potty chair to the real toilet bowl. The potty seat is also ultra portable as there is a travel potty seat or foldable potty seat that can be carried in the diaper bag. There is no need for the parent to clean up after the child.
CONS: The child might still need your assistance because he cannot access the height and the size of the toilet bowl safely and in a clean and systematic manner. You might still need to be there for your child to offer some help. The seat also has to be folded or kept after the child, a possible issue when you have guests in the house sharing the toilet.
The potty chair
PROS: the potty chair is designed with the height of your child in mind so he can be comfortable seated in the chair and do his thing. He can easily be taught to seat on it and there are no other complications to that. This rather simplistic approach makes the seat more practical. The chair can also be brought around where the child is. This can be very ideal if you are in a road trip outdoors.
CONS: The potty chair still needs to be cleaned after the child is done. If you are taking a public transportation that can also be a challenge as the child might hesitate or not poop at all in an intimidating toilet bowl.
