Tiki Torch Fuel: What You Should Know
Tiki torch fuel is designed to be used in the oil burning tiki torches. These typically have a wick and that uses the oil to ignite a flame. This will not only provide patio lighting, but it also provides a little warmth too. However, using the torch fuel isn’t always easy and there are things that you should consider.
Firstly you need to know that cheap quality oil is not a good option. Obviously you want to save money on the fuel, especially if you use it quite frequently. However, cheap fuel will cause thick black smoke. This is unpleasant to breathe in and it also leaves black soot around the torch. You will find this incredibly difficult to clean up. Therefore cheap fuel is often more trouble than it is worth.
A good quality oil on the other hand will not cause as much smoke. Try to look for a “no smoke” fuel. If you are unsure about the quality, ask a member of staff to help you. They should be able to give you advice on which type of fuel is better for tiki torches.
There are some forms of tiki torches that do not need fuel to run. These are known as solar tiki torches. Using solar panels, they convert sunlight into energy. They are safe, convenient and they save you money in the long run. However, they obviously won’t create the realistic flame which you may want.
When you are using tiki torches that need fuel, there is also the risk that you could burn yourself. Therefore they should be kept out of the reach of children. Make sure that you take relevant precautions when handling the fuel and lighting the torch. Never go over the fill line when you are pouring the fuel into the torch.
If you follow the advice above then you shouldn’t have any problems with fuel burning tiki torches. You just need to be aware of all of the potential problems that can come with tiki torch fuel.
