When Considering An Office Chair, Consider Your Lower Back
Should I buy cool chairs with adjustable arms or save some money and get a chair with fixed arms. We hear that question a lot and the answer is an easy one. What a buyer typically does is he sits in a chair in the showroom. The chair fits just right with the desk they have. You try it out and it feels great. Easy sale but now you get home and after working in your home office for a week you realize that things don’t feel so perfect. You realize that your desk is a couple inches taller that the one that was setup in the store. If you had adjustable arms this of course would not be an issue. I suppose if you took a saw to your table legs the problem could be solved be we’d like to suggest the adjustable arms first.
What about an ergonomic task chair. These must be the best right? Often they arm but you need to remember that not everyone is shaped the same. The real important question is ‘Is this the perfect chair for me’. If you are going to be sitting somewhere for upwards of eight hours a day then you really should consider spending a little extra and try to find the very best chair that you can afford. Your back will be very thankful.
What about tall back chairs, we are told that they are a must have? Another frequently heard question. Tall backs are certainly a nice looking chair but what you really need is the best lower back support. If your lower back is well supported then the rest just doesn’t matter. Take time to review the features you need but focus on the lower back. And what about leather? Leather chairs can be quite luxurious just be sure that is isn’t too slippery. If you are sliding while sitting it won’t take long for your back to display it’s unhappiness.
